Melanie Meyer teacher at the New Middelschool Karl Morre and Heiko Vogl lecturer at the University College of Teacher Education Styria took part in the 3rd VoiceS in-service course 2015 in Olomouc in the Czech Republic. 25 teachers from nine European countries worked on European teacher competences as well as on 21st century skills.
After theoretical inputs about 21st century skills in teacher education (Alena Juvova, Stefan Chudy, Palacký University Olomouc), storytelling (Patricia Huion, UC Leuven-Limburg), European teacher education in the international context (Jon White, University of Derby) and blended learning linked to the Lions Quest program “Growing up” (Heiko Vogl, University College of Teacher Education Styria) the course participants started planning their European school projects. One example is the project of Melanie Mayer and here colleagues from Belgium and the Czech Republics dealing with the different identities of students aged between 14 and 16 years and an their cultural heritage. It is planned to develop a virtual multimedia city guide about three towns linked to real life experiences of three school classes to improve soft skills and cultural awareness of the participating students.
